This is a new one for me. I saw a website valuation from a law firm as a client asked me why their web designer ripped them off. The thing is the solicitor got it wrong!
What I mean is, he just took the old profit times ten model. What he failed to realise is that the domain name has its own value, the site has a value (cost of build), the products on the site have a potential value, the search engine rankings have a value, and the sites conversion rate has a value associated with it. Well to say the least I saw over 50 things that he was not even looking at which all have value associated to them if you are a primarily web based business.
